How to Pass the DELE A1 in 2 Months — Weekly Study Plan
Is it possible to pass the DELE A1 in 8 weeks?
Yes, if you already have basic knowledge of Spanish (A1 level or equivalent: greetings, present indicative, essential vocabulary). With 1-2 hours of focused study and exam format practice daily, 2 months is enough to go from A1 to A1 and pass comfortably.
This plan is designed for people with limited time: workers, parents, or students who need the DELE A1 for nationality or work and cannot dedicate a whole year to studying.
Weeks 1-2: Fundamental Grammar
The goal of these first two weeks is to consolidate the grammatical foundations that the exam will evaluate.
Priority Content:
- Present indicative: common regular and irregular verbs (ir, ser, estar, tener, hacer, poder, querer)
- Present perfect: he + past participle (he comido, he ido). Use with today, this week, this month
- Simple past: regular verbs (-é, -aste, -ó) and key irregulars (fui, estuve, hice, tuve)
- Ir a + infinitive: for future plans (voy a estudiar mañana)
- Estar + gerund: actions in progress (estoy comiendo)
- Gustar and similar verbs: me gusta, me encanta, me interesa
Suggested Daily Routine (1.5 hours):
- 30 min — New grammar (one topic per day)
- 30 min — Written practice exercises
- 30 min — Active listening (A1 level podcast or videos with subtitles)
Weeks 3-4: Thematic Vocabulary
The DELE A1 focuses on everyday situations. These two weeks are for building vocabulary organized by exam themes.
Essential Themes:
- Family and relationships: father, mother, brother, married, single, boyfriend
- House and home: rooms, furniture, describing your apartment
- City and transport: directions, means of transport, shops
- Shopping and restaurants: ordering food, asking prices, complaining
- Health: body parts, symptoms, going to the doctor
- Work and studies: professions, schedules, describing your job
- Leisure and free time: sports, hobbies, weekend plans
Study Technique:
Study one topic per day. Write 10 sentences using the new vocabulary. Record yourself saying them out loud. At the end of the week, review all previous topics with flashcards.
Weeks 5-6: Exam Format Practice
Now that you have the foundation, it's time to familiarize yourself with the actual tasks of the DELE A1.
Reading comprehension:
- Practice with posters, ads, short emails
- Learn to look for specific information without reading the entire text
- Time yourself: 12 minutes per task maximum
Listening comprehension:
- Listen to short audios of everyday situations
- Read the questions BEFORE listening (you have time for this)
- Train with real Spanish speaking speed
Written expression:
- Write a short text every day (60-80 words)
- Practice formats: email to a friend, note, description of your routine
- Memorize connectors: pero, porque, también, primero, después, al final
Oral expression:
- Practice describing photos out loud (1-2 minutes)
- Prepare monologues about your family, work, city, and routine
- Simulate dialogues: shopping in a store, ordering in a restaurant
Weeks 7-8: Mock Exams and Final Review
The last two weeks are for taking full exams under real conditions.
Planning:
- Week 7: Take 2-3 full timed exams. Identify your weaknesses
- Week 8: Strengthen weak points. Do 1-2 final mock exams. Rest the day before
Tips for Exam Day:
- Arrive 30 minutes early at the exam center
- Bring ID/passport and registration confirmation
- Do not try to study new grammar the night before
- In the oral test, speak slowly and clearly; it's better to say little and correctly than much and confusingly
